ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED


Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors--especially Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Southcoast Community Bank, and Watson-Brown Foundation--we were able to offer Advance Registration for the full John Bachman Symposium for only $160.

--Full Registration included admission to ALL sessions, activities, and six meals listed on the SCHEDULE from noon Thursday through noon Sunday.

--Symposium participants were responsible for making lodging and travel arrangements and for any meals not included on the SCHEDULE (such as breakfasts provided by your place of lodging).

--To register, participants completed the downloadable REGISTRATION & PAYMENT FORM (PDF or Microsoft Word format), printed it, and mailed it to the indicated address with check, money order, or credit card information; we could only accept VISA and MASTERCARD. Your check was deposited or your credit card was charged upon receipt of your completed form. We did not accept purchase orders.

--In case of unforeseen difficulties, participants could request a refund of registration fees (less $25 processing fee) before noon EST on 3 April 2006; we were unable to make refunds after that time.

--Full or Friday-only advance registration was REQUIRED for each participant who presents a CONCURRENT PAPER.

--High school students were not required to pay registration fees to present Concurrent Papers but did not qualify for meals and other activities; these students completed and submitedt a REGISTRATION & PAYMENT FORM via postal mail.

--Anyone unable to access or print out the REGISTRATION & PAYMENT FORM contacted Dot Jeffcoat at 803-321-5692 and ask her to snail-mail a form.

--ADVANCE REGISTRATION & PAYMENT FORMS needed to arrive at Newberry College by noon on 14 April 2006.

--Registrants were asked to SEND AN E-MAIL to REGISTRATION to let us know when they had snail-mailed REGISTRATION & PAYMENT FORMS.


A SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY

Again, thanks to our generous sponsors, Advance Registration for the full John Bachman Symposium was only $160. This included two lunches and two dinners at the College, the bus trip to Charleston (with site visits, bag lunch, and Lowcountry cook-out), an original play performance at Newberry Opera House, and mixers--plus all Keynotes, concurrent papers, field trips, other on-site activities, and materials. Everyone agreed was QUITE a bargain! Because organizations contributed to keep registration costs low, we asked registrants when they registered to "return the favor" by making a donation to the Newberry College Alumni Scholarship Endowment Fund in the name of John Bachman. Such gifts are fully tax-deductible and were acknowledged with a letter to be filed with tax returns. When the $10,000 mark is reached, the first John Bachman Alumni Scholarship will be awarded to a Newberry College junior or senior majoring in biology, religion, history, or sociology.
